Rallycross
In Europe Rallycross is a very well known form of motorsport which is driven on mixed surfaces of Asphalt and Gravel.
A race consists of 3 qualifying Heats of 4 Laps for each Divison. In the heats they start with 5 cars. The start positions for the 1st heats are decided by Timed practise or raffle. This depends on the Championship. Each heat the fastest driver gets 1 point the 2nd 2 points etc. The start position for the 2nd and 3rd heats is determined by the points from the previous heats. After the 3rd heats the best 2 scores are added together for each driver. The one with the least number of points is the fastest.
The fastest 16 drivers have qualified for the 3 finals. From this list 11 to 16 are in the C final the winner of this progresses into the B final and the winner of the B final progresses into the A final with the top 5 cars. The lowest point scorer of each group can choose pole position on the front row of that particular final. These finals are not driven on times but on finishing order. Any place in the overall end result is rewarded with Championship points. Depending on the number of entrants there may also be a D final.
